Victoria Is Buzzing Right Now — Here's What to Catch
Honestly, this is one of those weeks where you'll wish you could clone yourself. Whether you're into big live music, free family nights, or just soaking up the summer vibe, there's something on basically every day. Here's what I'd have on my radar.
🎤 David Foster Foundation Celebration — Inner Harbour
August 5–6, 2026
This one's right on our doorstep. The David Foster Foundation is bringing a star-studded show to the Inner Harbour this weekend — we're talking Chad Kroeger, Adam Levine and CeeLo Green all performing. It's a fundraiser for a great cause, and the Inner Harbour backdrop honestly makes it a pretty spectacular setting. Check the source link for ticketing details, and ask at the front desk if you have questions about getting there on foot (spoiler: it's very walkable from Ocean Island).
🎶 Music Bingo Fundraiser for Fringe Festival
Thursday, August 6, 2026
If you want something a little more low-key mid-week, music bingo is happening Thursday night as a fundraiser for the Victoria Fringe Festival. It's the kind of thing that's way more fun than it sounds — especially if you end up at a table with competitive strangers. Good way to meet locals, support local arts, and not just sit in your room scrolling.
🎬 Free-B Film Festival at Beacon Hill Park
Every Friday & Saturday in August
Free outdoor movies in Beacon Hill Park — every Friday AND Saturday this month. The Free-B Film Festival is exactly what it sounds like: bring a blanket, maybe grab snacks nearby, and watch a film under the sky. Beacon Hill is already one of my favourite spots in the city (peacocks! ocean views! giant trees!), and this makes it even better after dark.
🎵 SoberFest — Langford
August long weekend
SoberFest is back in Langford with a seriously stacked Canadian line-up — Bif Naked, Fefe Dobson, Tyler Shaw and more headlining. It's an alcohol-free festival, which makes it genuinely welcoming for everyone. Langford is a short bus or drive from downtown — check bctransit.com or ask at the front desk about getting out there.
🎉 Mayfair Shopping Centre Summer Block Party
This weekend (around August 5–6, 2026)
Mayfair Shopping Centre's annual Summer Block Party is back and it's free and family-friendly. A solid option if you've got kids in tow, or you just want a fun, no-pressure afternoon out. Mayfair is easy to reach by bus — check bctransit.com for routes.
🌿 Vancouver Island's Biggest Plant-Based Festival — Victoria
August (date TBC — check source)
Vancouver Island's largest plant-based festival is returning to Victoria this month, celebrating sustainability and ethical living. Even if you're not vegan, these festivals tend to have great food and a really good atmosphere. Worth a look at the source link for the exact date and location.
🎬 Free Outdoor 'Mamma Mia!' Movie Night — Saanich Fairgrounds
Saturday, August 15, 2026
ABBA under the stars. A free outdoor screening of *Mamma Mia!* is planned for the Saanich Fairgrounds on August 15th — mark that one in your calendar if you're still in town mid-August. Hard to think of a better way to spend a summer Saturday night.
Got questions about any of these, or want help figuring out the best way to get there? Swing by the Ocean Island front desk — we're happy to point you in the right direction, and we've got connections to deals you won't find just googling around.
